The NJCAA national office announced the Men’s Basketball Players of the Week of all three divisions last Wednesday for games played between Jan. 5-11. Last week’s honors were earned by sophomore guard Kevin Mickle of Broward (Fla.), freshman guard Danzel Wright of Johnson County (Kan.) and sophomore guard Delonte Fennell of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
Delonte Fennell averaged 25 points, 14.6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and .6 blocks in the three games played that week. Currently, he is ranked 39th in the nation in points per game with 17.8 and is ranked 25th in the nation in rebounds per game with 10.2. He is also averaging 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Westmont alumnus, sophomore, Brianna Trentini, was recently named to the NJCAA Region XX Division III, First Team, and to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Team for her efforts on the volleyball court during the 2014 season. She led the WPCC in digs per set with 7.68 and was second in the country in NJCAA Division III with 6.24 digs per set. She led the team in kills (112), digs (287), and points (126) in 15 matches played.
Central Cambria graduate, freshman, Krysta Ziesman, was also named to the WPCC All-Conference Volleyball Team.
Selena Blough (Greater Johnstown), Desarae Margucci (Ferndale), and Dominic Williams (Cambria County Christian) were all named to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Academic Honors Team. Thomas Connor, of the basketball team, was named to the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Academic High Honors Team for the Fall 2014 Semester.
