Penn Highlands SquareKish Bank has donated $4,000 in Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Funds to to help fund the Accelerated College Education Program (ACE).  The ACE Program gives high school students an opportunity to earn college credits while taking classes at their local high school.

“Having a partner such as Kish Bank allows us to continue to provide our ACE students with an affordable opportunity to jump start their college education,” said Penn Highlands President, Dr. Walter Asonevich.

During the 2012-13 academic year, the ACE Program served over 1,700 students in 45 school districts throughout 10 counties.

F.N.B. donates to College’s ACE Program

MR - 20131031 - FNB DonationDr. Walter Asonevich, President of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, accepts a donation from Greg Winger, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for F.N.B. Corporation.   The $5,347.25 Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program donation was given to help support the College’s Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program.

The ACE Program provides high school students in grades 9-12 with an opportunity to earn college credits while taking courses at their high school.  The program served over 1,700 students during the 2012-13 academic year.

Penn Highlands SquareFor those busy individuals seeking to further their education, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College will be holding a One Stop Shop on Thursday, November 14th,  from 3 to 7pm. The One Stop Shop will be held at the College’s Richland Campus, located at 101 Community College Way in Johnstown, Pa.

At this event, interested individuals will be able to register for the upcoming semester in just one quick and simple visit, making it easy and convenient for those on the go.

As a bonus, there will be a financial aid presentation from 6 to 7pm during the event. The financial aid presentation will help community members understand the financial aid process. Our knowledgeable Financial Aid staff will provide information on the following and other topics:

  • FAFSA
  • Federal Pell Grants
  • PHEAA Grants
  • Federal Stafford Loans
  • Federal Work Study
  • Scholarships

Penn Highlands SquarePennsylvania Highlands Community College is celebrating the season by planning a series of events that will be open to students, faculty, and staff, and members of the community.  The following events will be held at the College’s Richland Campus, at 101 Community College Way.

  • Community Trick or Treat: On October 28, from 6 p.m. to 7:30pm, a community trick or treat will be held throughout the Richland Campus. This will be combined with a parade of costumes, fall games and crafts for children, and a haunted house.
  • “Close Range Mysterious Encounters of the Weird Kind” by Stan Gordon. This seminar will be held on October 29 at 12:15pm in the LGI of the Richland Campus.  Mr. Gordon has been involved with the investigation of thousands of mysterious encounters all across Pennsylvania. He has appeared on numerous local and network TV news and documentary shows, including the Syfy, Discovery, History, and Fox News channels. He has been featured on many television shows, including Unsolved Mysteries, Sightings, Inside Edition, A Current Affair, and Creepy Canada.
  • “Death of a Vampire” Murder Mystery. Scheduled for October 31, from 12:15 to 2pm, this murder mystery celebrates the opening of a new theme park in Transylvania: Vampireland.  The guests have been chosen by Jack Ular, the owner of Castle Alucard and Vampireland, to take a frightening challenge.
